Abstract

The Intensive Care are complex units, the simple fact of being admitted there generates anxiety, both for patients and family members. These patients suffer from an acute condition or disease which threatens their life, which makes the context of intensive care stressful. At present, great importance is given to the relationship between health personnel and the patient and their families, where the fundamental matter is to satisfy their needs, alongside an excellent medical care. Satisfying the informational needs of family members by providing them with simple and real information is one of the aspects needed to be taken into account. Adequate communication together with a humanized treatment by health personnel and the participation of family members in the patient's care produces very positive benefits for him and his family.
