Social representation of the Good teacher from the perspective of nursing students

Introduction: The social representation of the good teacher allows to value the opinions, beliefs, ideas and stereotypes that the students have regarding the ideal professor, which has improved the educational quality.
Objective: To interpret the social representation of the good teacher from the nursing student perspective of Señor de Sipán University.
Methodology: A qualitative, interpretive study with a social representation design was carried out with the participation of 18 students from the Nursing School who were administered a free word association test and a semi-structured interview.
Results: The word most associated with the term good teacher referred to the teacher himself. Three categories were configured: professional performance, teacher behavior and training.
Conclusions: The professional performance category indicated that teachers perfect their teaching skills to develop competences among students that will serve their professional growth. The behavior category was considered necessary for educators to instill ethical values that enable students to treat people appropriately, analyze and make decisions in the face of any event. As for teaching training, it is necessary because it depends on ensuring that future professionals provide the same level of care they have received and are constantly updated in their knowledge and practice.
