Informational competences in Medicine students from Las Tunas

Introduction: The current generation of students and professors should be prepared appropriately on the use of information and technologies to solve academic and investigative problems.
Objective: To expose the results of a survey for the identification of informational competences in first semester students of the Medicine career in the University of Medical Sciences from Las Tunas.
Method: An exploratory study was carried out for the identification of informational competences in first year students of the Medicine career from the University of Medical Sciences in Las Tunas in the course 2023-2024. The data were gathered by means of a mixed questionnaire. The measures of absolute frequency and percentages were used for the tabulation and descriptive analysis of the information.
Results: Of those interviewed, 56.9% assured to always need of the search of information for the study of classes and the investigation, preferably in virtual environments, and recognize the lack of preparation for this activity. Also, most considered important to know tools for the search of information in their specialty and they coincide with the necessity of a subject for their learning.
Conclusions: The investigation allowed to identify the informational competences in the population investigated based on 3 basic variables: search of information, information analysis and dissemination and self-assessment elements. This will help guide teachers in developing specific actions to achieve this goal.Downloads
