Gastric Diverticulum on the Lesser Curvature as an Uncommon Differential Diagnosis of Chronic Dyspepsia
Abstract
We present the case of a 38-year-old woman with dyspeptic symptoms for a decade, but intensified in the last three months: frequent nausea, occasional vomiting, slow digestion, gastric fullness, and epigastric discomfort, pain on deep palpation in the epigastrium, radiographic image by addition on the gastric lesser curvature, and endoscopic identification of a diverticulum at that location. She was treated with proton pump inhibitors and dietary measures, achieving a favorable evolution and outpatient follow-up by gastroenterology. Due to the low frequency of this disease as a cause of chronic dyspepsia and the difficulties for its diagnosis by the clinical method, it was decided to describe a symptomatic case with a diverticulum on the lesser curvature of the stomach, taking into account its clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, and treatment. This protrusion should be considered in the differential diagnosis that does not respond to usual treatment. Its positive diagnosis requires gastroscopic or radiographic confirmation.
