Integrated philosophies in the treatment of Class I malocclusion with severe discrepancy

Abstract

An orthodontic patient presenting with a Class I dental and Class II skeletal relationship sought treatment for severe crowding. The treatment plan comprised three phases: arch decompression, leveling and alignment of the incisor segment, and improvement of the occlusal relationship. Notable aspects include the combination of principles from various classic and modern techniques, as well as the successful integration of the Roth technique with the Peets bypass, Sadao Sato’s principles (MEAW), and Damon’s low-friction archwire mechanics. It is concluded that the implemented treatment plan achieved successful outcomes regarding biomechanics and smile preservation, improving the case both aesthetically and functionally over a two-year period without the need for extractions.
