Some considerations on the chronic viral hepatitis as a health problem

Introduction: Nowadays, infectious diseases constitute one of the most frequent causes of death, with the result that current hepatitis epidemic is a health problem worldwide. The hepatitis B and C are spread by means of the blood contact, semen or another body fluid of an infected person.
Objective: To update some elements on the chronic viral hepatitis as a health problem.
Development: Some aspects of the chronic viral hepatitis related to the global, regional and local statistics are analysed; the impact indicators, epidemiology, characteristics of the virus and the ways of transmission are also approached.
Conclusions: This question has become a serious health problem worldwide and Cuba is not exempt of this situation. The main link to prevent and reduce the number of patients and the transmission of these diseases is the primary health care, where the educational and preventive work that is developed in the community is fundamental.
