Medicine or history? Dilemma of three doctors from Santiago de Cuba
Keywords:
History, historians, doctors, scientific contributions, scientific motivationsAbstract
Illustrious names distinguish the work of many historians from Santiago de Cuba, some of them coming from other sciences or simply from their self-taught work. In recent years, it is remarkable the work of three doctors who are recognized for their performance in their medical specialties: DSc: Wilkie Delgado Correa, (dentistry), Dr. Carlos Rafael Fleitas Salazar, (anesthesiology) and DSc. Ricardo Hodelín Tablada, (neurosurgery), but at the same time, they are unbeatable historians. This work goes some way towards a rapprochement to them, who keep a scientific curiosity within the bounds of the culture from Santiago de Cuba. In the same way, their evaluations about how they manage to carry out simultaneously both professions with great contributions are presented and the apparent contradictions between the methodology of history and medical science are taken into account. Finally, the answers to the projective question are presented: Medicine or history?Downloads
