A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 40 patients with acute coronary syndrome with elevation of the ST and without this, admitted to the Cardiology Service of "Saturnino Lora Torres" Teaching Clinical Surgical Provincial Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, was carried out from January to April, 2015, in order to characterize the personality according to variables of interest for the investigation. The form of presentation of the predominant disease was the acute coronary syndrome without elevation of the ST, with the following temperament properties: elevated activity
(77.5 %), fast rhythm (70.0 %) and extroversion (62.5 %). In the norms, stereotypes and values level, the most represented necessities were security (in the total of sample), followed by those of affection and affiliation (96.7 %). These characteristics can not only be a precipitant of the disease, but can also have a protective effect regarding morbidity and mortality, which allows the establishment of social and family bonds, as well as adaptation capacity to the new life conditions.
